First, we will know what names this tasty dish Dahi Bhalla has across the Indian subcontinent

Dahi Vada is otherwise called

Dahi Baray” in Urdu,

Dahi Bhalla” in Punjabi,

Thayir Vadai” in Tamil,

Thairu vada” in Malayalam,

Perugu vada” in Telugu,

Mosaru Vade” in Kannada,

Dahi bara” in Odia and

Boi bora” in Bengali.

Dahi Bhalla is a popular snack in India and is eaten in different parts of the subcontinent.

You will see it in Indian parties, gatherings, wedding functions, festivals(holi) etc.

people enjoy this dish very much and are a great fan and it can be eaten as starters.

Trust me it is very easy and you can make it at home.

From kids to old people everybody likes Dahi Bhalla.

 

Ingredients Needed-

STEPS FOR BHALLA’S

 

  1. Wash and Soak 1 cup of urad dhuli daal/Urad Lentils for 4-5 hrsDahi Bhalla
  2. It would look this, much bigger in size Dahi Bhalla
  3. Then grind it with very little water (if required)  in a mixer to make the paste {consistency should be like a dough very thick}Dahi Bhalla
  4. Take out in a bowl, transfer the mixtureDahi Bhalla
  5. Take a bowl of water and put a little amount of batter to test it, if it floats then it is perfectDahi Bhalla
  6. Now with your wet hands, make little balls (vada like shape) with your hands, and by using your thumb make an impressionDahi Bhalla
  7. Then fry the bhallas, till golden brownDahi Bhalla
  8. After frying take out on a kitchen towel/tissue so that the oil gets soaked upDahi Bhalla
  9. After frying put it (Bhallas) in lukewarm water for 1/2 – 1 hr Dahi Bhalla
  10. Then squeeze out the water from Bhalla’s with your palm. { you can keep it in the refrigerator for future use }Dahi Bhalla

 

STEPS FOR MAKING CURD
  1. Take yogurt/ curd
  2. Start beating it with a hand blender to make it smooth
  3. Add little Sugar (optional, according to your taste)

 

STEPS FOR DAHI BHALLA

 

  1. Take a bowl Add Bhalla’s to it depending upon how much do you want to eat
  2. Pour curd over it
  3. Add papri (you get it in markets, it is easily available)
  4. Now, Add salt, red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder, sev/shredded coconut (according to taste)
  5. Take a spoon and pour pudhina- dhaniya chutney and tamarind chutney.Dahi Bhalla
